Description
Vapid Sandstorm Rollback Tow Trucks provides a modern pickup-based recovery pair for mechanic businesses and roadside operators. Both lore-friendly models are scratch-built, with a moving rollback deck and rear equipment that can be connected to custom towing scripts. The short-wheelbase truck and crew cab cover different crew requirements within the same FiveM recovery fleet.
Cab layouts and spawn names
- Sandstorm SWB Rollback:
onx_tftowstorm— short wheelbase with 2 doors. - Sandstorm Crew Cab Rollback:
onx_tftowstorm2— crew cab with 4 doors and 5 seats.
The SWB is the smaller option for solo operators and tighter urban recovery scenes. The crew cab adds room for mechanics or an impound team travelling together. These are separate models, each with cosmetic selections and the same general rollback and warning-light features.
Bed movement
The rollback tilts and slides under player control. Shift and Ctrl operate the deck from the keyboard, moving it into the loading position for a stranded vehicle. The bed animation is already part of the model, so these basic movements do not require a separate custom script.
For more involved recovery systems, the mod index is exposed. Developers can use it to connect the rear equipment to their towing logic and can script bed operation while the player stands outside the truck. This supports an on-foot control workflow in addition to the built-in keyboard operation.
- Controllable deck with tilt and slide animation.
- Bed controls mapped to Shift / Ctrl.
- Mod index available for custom tow functions.
- Outside-vehicle operation possible through scripting.
Roadside warnings
The supplied warning package includes amber lights and a flip-up animated warning panel. Holding H deploys the warning light. MOVE / SLOW signs cycle while the warning lights are active, giving the recovery scene a visible traffic-direction display.
The deck animation, amber bar, flip-up light and cycling signs work through the in-game controls supplied with the vehicles. A custom script is only needed when extending the rear equipment into a server-specific towing workflow or adding the outside-cab control arrangement.
Rear equipment choices
Five underreach styles are available, with multiple configurations and positions. These provide different rear-rig presentations for recovery work. They are available for developers to connect to the server’s own attachment logic.
- Wheel Grapples
- Axle Hooks
- Extended Ramps
- Extended Wheel Grapples
- Extended Axle Hooks
The rear selection complements the moving deck. An operator can position the rollback with the keyboard, while a scripted recovery system can use the chosen underreach arrangement for its towing functions. The asset supplies those configurations without prescribing a particular job framework.
Company appearance
Each truck has its own cosmetic choices. These cover the grille, front and rear bumpers, mirrors, running boards, hoods, roof treatments and mudflaps. The body details can therefore be selected independently for the SWB and crew-cab entries.
There are 4 supplied liveries per truck. They include plain civilian designs as well as towing-company and highway-clearance artwork, letting the vehicles serve different fleet roles while retaining the same recovery hardware.
- Not for Hire (Light)
- Not for Hire (Dark)
- Camel Towing
- Highway Clearance
The light and dark unbranded designs suit private or civilian use. The company and clearance options provide the other named presentations. Combined with the model-specific trim choices, the livery set allows the cab variants to operate as a matched fleet or distinct business vehicles.
Resource setup
The pack is standalone and framework-independent. It can run on a custom standalone server or an established economy framework, with existing job and garage systems making the vehicles available to players. Some features require Game Build 3095, so a compatible build is needed for their full operation.
- Create
[onx_vehicles]beneath the server resources folder and add the ONX vehicle resources to it. - In
server.cfg, start the group usingensure [onx_vehicles].
The intended uses include roadside assistance, off-road recovery, county towing, mechanic shops and utility-focused civilian transport. The cab choice determines whether the truck is serving a solo operator or a larger crew; both supply the animated recovery equipment.
Technical coverage
Both 2021-2025 models have a full 5-tier LOD chain. The SWB reaches 1,272 polygons at L4, while the crew cab reaches 1,358 at that level. YTD textures have a maximum size of 1024×1024, while embedded liveries have their own resolution limit.
The modification files are less than 0.5MB.

The 2-door SWB and 4-door crew cab use different body layouts but retain the same deck controls. Their shared warning system provides the amber lights and moving panel, while each truck can take its own cosmetic selections. This lets a recovery company choose cab capacity separately from the rear-equipment workflow.
